Batam View Resort

Were away for the past 2 days for my company Singapore Team quarterly off-site meeting. This quarter, it was held in Batam. Initial plan was to stay in Turi Beach Resort but it was fully booked. Hence, we stayed at Batam View Resort instead.

It was supposed to be a 3D/2N trip with only the 2nd day used for full day meeting and the 1st and 3rd day, free and easy but a pity I have a training going on in office tomorrow and the day after so I got to make my way back in the evening and thus miss the chance to have the kelong seafood dinner that was arranged for tonight.

My opinions on Batam and/or Batam View Resort...

1) Food at the resort sucks!!!
2) It is quite boring at the resort, unless you play golf or you go out of the resort but the journey to the nearest shopping area is 30mins. Arrange transport with your resort should you need to go out of the resort. Booked the driver for the whole stretch for him to follow you around. It is not very safe for a non-local to walk about on their own on the roads.
3) Do not take the last ferry (6:30pm - Batam time) back if you can cos' the ferry will be packed with 'senior' gamblers from a nearby casino ship and you will have to 'KS' with them to clear the Singapore custom clearance. If not, it is going to take you a while to clear the custom. Oh... and let's not forget the loooonnnnnggg taxi queue.

Before you think Batam is a place that you will not want to step foot into, let me tell you ONE thing that is GOOD there.

THE SPA!!! Specifically, Win's Spa!

My colleague recommended this spa place called Win's Spa which is good and cheap and I must say, she gave a good recommendation.

I took this package which include the following...
1. Revitalizing Massage
2. 15mins Steam Room
3. Body Scrub
4. Yogurt Mask on body
5. A soak in the bathtub
6. A charcoal 'steam' from bottom up, supposedly to clean your 'you-know-where'
1 - 5 are done to the whole body. They said it is a 2.5hrs session but all-in-all, it is about 3hrs. Guess how much they cost? It is 300,000 rupiah which is about S$50 ONLY!! We can never find that in Singapore unless you are a new customer and they are trying to sell their package to you. Even then, I don't think you can find such spa treatment at S$50.

We added another hair spa into our session and I must say... If you ever go to Win's Spa, you must try their hair spa. They massage your whole head, shoulders and neck. For people like me who always suffer from the neck and shoulders ache, it was heaven when they were massaging for me. The whole hair spa took about 1hr to complete and again guess how much they cost? 85,000 rupiah, convert to SGD, it is only about $14!!

I have only 2 words for the above Spa Treatment... DAMN SHIOK!!
All for S$65... Where to find? You tell me...
One thing though, they only do body spa for ladies. Sorry, guys.

My Free iPhone... :D

I am a happy person now. Just received a really good news!

If truth be told, I will be receiving a FREE iPhone when it comes to Asia next year. Yippeeeeeee... When that happens, I will be so grateful to my 'sponsor'. Initially, I still thought I have to start saving money from now to get my hands on the iPhone. I estimated that it will be close to S$1,000 damage to my pocket. I most likely have to start starving myself to save that money. : ( Now with the news I received from my generous sponsor, I DON'T HAVE TO STARVE MYSELF ANYMORE.. Hahaha...

iPhone.. iPhone.. iPhone.. iPhone.. iPhone..

p.s. Regret to inform that I cannot reveal the identity of my generous sponsor.. : )
