It Is A Year To Be Jolly

The Lunar New Year has just started and I have received so many good news... Yippee...

My Godson
I have had just the cutest baby in the world to be my godson around the CNY period. He will be 7 months old in less than 2 weeks time. He is one of the most adorable darlings that I have seen, super smiley and all. I always tell my sister to be jovial now so that she can have a smiley baby like my godson too...

Converting to Perm
I just received news from my boss that I will be converted to perm wef from 1st March. I will be getting all the benefits that everyone else is getting... : )

Taking on more Duties
My sales executive is leaving the company and my boss has asked me to take on some of her duties... I take it as a chance for me to be exposed to different areas and also to learn more things. I am going to treasure this opportunity and hopefully do it well and we will see what will proceed from there... :P

It is a good year for me and I wish that it will be a good year for all who know me and read my blog...
Gong Xi Fa Cai to all...

Happy Birthday, Da Jiu

Da Jiu is my mum's eldest brother. My maternal granddad passed away when my mum and siblings are still very very young. When my granddad passed away, Da Jiu (being the eldest) sort of took over the role of being the father figure at home and took care of the family. He stopped schooling and started working to provide for the family and help bring up my mum and siblings. As he worked to provide for the family, he did not have time for relationship and as time passed, he remains single till now.

As a close-knitted family, me and all my cousins respect him for what he had done for our parents. Most of you (my generation or not) will agree with me that we will always try to celebrate our parents birthdays as best as we could. Then one day (sometime in November 06), out of nowhere, I started to think when is Da Jiu's birthday. He is supposed to be 62 years old this year and in the chinese custom, he is 'entitled' to a '大寿' birthday celebration. A call to my mum confirmed that his birthday fell on 5 Febuary.

A total of 10 calls to all my cousins were made. I suggested a '大寿' birthday celebration for Da Jiu on 4 Febuary (it being a Sunday) which the expenses will be splitted by all 11 cousins. I was really glad that all of them gave me a 'go ahead' immediately. We decided on a buffet catering at my Er Jiu's house eventually. Coordination for all my Da Jiu's siblings were made. I am very happy that all the siblings agree to come as there are a couple of aunts that we do not meet up so regularly.

With all the coordination completed, we are left with the actual day event...

Family members start filing in at 3pm. 1-by-1 everyone came and finally the '寿星公‘ reached. The moment Da Jiu reached, I know that all the 'trouble' put into coordinating the celebration is well worth it. The smile I saw on Da Jiu's face is priceless. You can see that he was very happy that we are doing the celebration for him. He was smiling non-stop. We sang birthday songs for him. We gave him our well-wishes through our ang-pows. We sabotaged him with whip cream on his face.

It was really a joyous celebration which also indirectly gave us an opportunity to have a family gathering. Everyone has a wonderful time catching up with each other and were basically having fun. It was really a very cozy atmosphere for me personally. I dare say that this is another occasion which will leave a very memorable impression in most our hearts. : )

Happy 1 Month, Jann

Jann is the lastest member to join our happy families. Jann is Rae and Shayne's youngest sister. She turned 1 month old on 4 Febuary. We had a little celebration at my cousin's place on Saturday. I personally think that Jann looks like Shayne. She has such big eyes and eyeballs that almost cover her whole eye... so cute... : )

Will update more on Jann as she grows...

A Eventful Weekend

It had been a eventful weekend. It was a long weekend for me as I took leave on Thursday and Friday. I took leave for only 1 reason... Xiaobai is back!!! In case you have forgotten, Xiaobai is my dearest friend. Come to think of it, I had known her for about 9 years. Not exactly long compared to other people but definitely long by my standard.

It had been more than 1 year since I last seen her. This time round, she is only back for 1 week (really short :() but she still managed to free 1 day out for me, her Xiaohei.. : ) It was not 1 of those exciting days that we had but I dare say that it was a very fulfilling catch-up session for both of us. For the past 1 year, we still contact via the internet or smses but nothing beats seeing each other and updating each other over coffee.

This might be just a short catch-up session but I am not complaining cos' I know she will be back in April and finally in July for at least 2 years. YIPPEE!!! It has been so long and I am looking forward to July...
